2 months old...really??? I know that's what I've been thinking!
Emery is a beautiful baby girl who LOVES to sleep! She gave us the best Christmas present and slept through the night. She woke up around 6:30 a hungry little girl and ate.. and then threw it up. Not such a good present! She's been a good sleeper all along by only waking up once in the night typically between 3 and 4 am. She sleeps until about 6:30-8:00 and takes a small feeding and goes back to sleep. I even bundle her up, put her in the car seat, carry her into daycare through the snow/cold, and home and she sleeps through it all!! Each week, I think...well she must be going through a growth spurt...but the girl takes after me and loves her beauty sleep!
Santa brought her a musical seahorse and she loves it. We opened it the other night and I couldn't believe how excited she got. She was smiling and cooing and kicking like crazy! Emery isn't sure about bath time. She gives us a look like "What are you doing to me?", but she enjoys being wrapped in the towel and massaged with lotion and of course her nightly feeding! We're finally sinking into a routine and she's overall an easy baby.
So, today was her 2 month check up. We had a bit of an issue at her appointment because a nurse couldn't seem to measure properly. She tried twice with me to measure her length, and didn't give me much confidence, but I didn't say anything. UNTIL...the doctor said her measurements didn't seem right, but wasn't going to worry. I spoke up (who me??speak up??) and said I really do want to know her measurements and that the nurse seemed to have trouble operating the slide ruler. The doctor responded, so you think she didn't measure correctly. I said, well, she had some issues with baby ruler and commented herself that she needed to take it on the red mark. So, the regular nurse was called in to retake her measurements after the doctor noticed that her head circumference was smaller than when she was born. I think she answered her own question about the nurse... in training? After all that...she got 3 shots and an oral medication ;(
If I've learned anything with Emery's birth, it has been to follow your instinct no matter what. I'm never going to settle for answers. I considered a 2nd opinion with Emery's jaundice diagnosis when we were still in the hospital, but the nurses assured me it was fine, not until week 2 did I finally get one, and maybe we could have escaped all the labs and come home earlier. I'm having trouble relinquishing some resentment for that doctor for taking so much time away from our first week home from the hospital.
I think I've spent more hours at the doctor than I have taken naps!! So being that I have four weeks left -- I am going to nap!!!
Emery's 2 month statistics:
11.9 pounds (75%)
22.6 inches (50%)
15.3 inches head circumference (50%)

Wow she looks so much like you and your sister in these pictures! You are doing a great job Chantal -- follow your motherly instincts. You know best!
Try to stay warm and I am sure Emery will come around with bath time...she probably just doesn't like her booty getting so cold when she gets naked. :)
