A Father's Day to remember. After a long week in Boston, Alex came home to lots of family. Finally, we've had visitors and they seem to come in herds!! Almost two weeks ago we had the wonderful gift of having Alex's grandparents, mom and aunt come to Austin to visit us. "Old Grandpa and Old Grandma" as they call themselves are in the late 80's and they escaped North Carolina heat to hang out with their GREAT GRANDSON!! We all had a wonderful time watching Evan play and tell us lots of stories. The most memorable thing ever was when they pulled up in the driveway and "Old Grandpa" wasn't even out of the car and Evan was reaching for him. What an amazing scene to witness. It brought tears to all of our eyes and will be forever cherished.
Evan opened up to everyone including Nana. He takes a little while to warm up to new people and since everyone was at his house, he was eager to show off. Boy can this child talk! "What's this?" was the phrase of the weekend. We took everyone to the SPAM Museum and then to Culver's for the famous Butterburger and frozen custard. Evan loves ice cream so we had a great time sharing some Austin favorites. On Sunday, we enjoyed brunch at the country club.
The water was still high from the floods and some roads were still blocked off. Our car made the front page of the paper. Because Alex was traveling during the week, he parked the Honda at the Corporate Rental Car lot and it was one of two vehicles remaining in the parking lot. They had moved all the rentals to higher ground. The photos show the car protected by sandbags. I have had trouble locating the picture, but you can only imagine!!
The trip was not complete without a special performance by Evan. We turned the music on and Evan began to show off his moves. He was hysterical and loving every minute of the attention. He was naked and dancing to no other than Rod Stewart's "Do you think I'm sexy?"
Here are some pictures from our weekend with family!! Thanks Nana, Aunt Beth, Grandpa and Grandma for coming to visit us here. It was such a great time catching up and being surrounded by so many people we love!

Glad you guys had fun with family. I am sure it was so great to have them there.... It is so funny how Evan says "What's this", Ansley always points and says "this" or "that" :)
